Autism Evaluation
in Manhattan
You've wondered about autism for a while. Maybe a teacher or your pediatrician has too.
Dr. Steve Tutty evaluates children, teens and young adults ages 5–22 for autism spectrum conditions, including bright, verbal and twice-exceptional kids who are often overlooked. The evaluation looks at social communication, behavior, thinking, learning and emotions together, so you come away with a clear answer and a plan for school, home and therapy.
Children
Social differences, rigid routines, big reactions to change or noise. An evaluation tells you whether autism explains it.
For ChildrenTeens & Young Adults
Many autistic teens, especially girls, cope by masking until the social demands of adolescence become too much.
Teens & Young AdultsTwice-Exceptional (2E)
Gifted and autistic. High ability can hide the challenges, and the challenges can hide the ability.
About 2E ProfilesA Diagnosis Is Only the Start
Knowing whether a child is autistic matters. Knowing how they think, learn and cope matters just as much for deciding what to do next.
Autism often comes with other things: ADHD, anxiety, language differences, learning disabilities, or very high ability in some areas. Because the evaluation measures cognition, academics, attention and emotional functioning along with autism features, the report can say what kind of school support, therapy and home strategies will actually fit your child.
What Happens After a DiagnosisA Careful, Unhurried Process
Autism shows up differently in every child, so the evaluation starts with your child's story, not a checklist.

A Decade of Counseling Autistic Children Came First
Before establishing his evaluation practice, Dr. Tutty spent a decade counseling children, mostly with autism and ADHD. He has since evaluated or treated more than 2,300 children and adolescents with complex neurodevelopmental profiles.
That hands-on background helps him recognize autism in children who don't fit the stereotype, and write recommendations that families and teachers can carry out. He is a licensed clinical psychologist, National Health Scholar and Scientific-Practitioner with more than 30 years of clinical practice. Evaluations are provided through Aspyre Psychology.

What Professionals Say

Dr. Ari G. - Ph.D., LMHCNational Board Certified Forensic Mental Health Evaluator“I have known Dr. Tutty now for 15 years and we have worked on some very complex cases together. I have appreciated his insight and neuropsych reports, and hold no reservations.”

Autism isn't always caught in toddler screening. Refer when a school-age child or teen has social, behavioral or sensory concerns that don't fit a simpler explanation.
